OUR ROLES

It takes teamwork to get our products out the door.

Read about some of the key roles within our business below:

MEET THE TEAM:

Anna, Customer Support Manager

“I first started with Barker’s in 2004 as an Administration Assistant, working in reception. I had the opportunity to grow and moved across various roles in the business. Today you can find me leading Customer Support team members, helping manage forecasting and our product inventory, along with other tasks.  After some time in this role I took maternity leave and became a mum. After 20 months at home with my family, Barker’s welcomed me back in the newly created role of Customer Support Manager, working with all Customer Support and Sales divisions for New Zealand.

At each step along the way I have been encouraged and supported to grow in my career. Barker’s has been so wonderful and allowing me to grow and take on new challenges.”

MEET THE TEAM:

Ken, Team Leader, Anathoth

“My journey at Barker’s started in 2016 in batch assembly - helping to put together ingredients for our cooks. It was a great starting point to learn the production process. I quickly moved through various roles including Cook, Team Coordinator and recently Anathoth Team Leader. I enjoy it all and I am learning so much every day. I know I can really help my team to grow and fulfill their potential.

I get great support from all areas of the business. The culture at Barker’s is all about family values, it’s a great environment, that’s why I like it here, it aligns with my own values. I try to nurture the team and encourage them, but also learn from them. It’s not always that I know everything, we learn from each other.”

 MEET THE TEAM:

Tamara , Food Technologist

“Shortly after I arrived in New Zealand early 2007 I received a call from Michael Barker. He invited me to come to Barker’s for a “chat” and a tour of the factory. I was back in Geraldine the following week to start my job as product developer.

Being a food technologist at Barker’s means being involved in every part of the process from idea to sample, from trial production to finished product. During this process we get to deal with all departments and divisions within this company and we get to try almost any ingredient you can think of which makes every day a challenge.”

MEET THE TEAM:

Belinda, FMCG Senior Marketing Manager

“I am lucky enough to be able to work for Barker’s of Geraldine in their Auckland office. I have worked in sales and marketing roles in NZ, the UK and Australia and am very proud to be now working on a brand that reflects my own South Island upbringing and values. As a mother of 3 the work-life balance is always a challenge but the fact that I love coming to work every day makes it that much easier! We have a talented and tight-knit team, and I appreciate the fact that we can be in an urban setting with our biggest customers and sales team but keep very open and strong connections with the factory and team in Geraldine. Our Geraldine roots are very important to us and as Marketing Manager we ensure that this is reflected in our brand and any campaigns we undertake.”

MEET THE TEAM:

Brienna, Operator and Packer, Anathoth

“I have always had an interest in the food industry, and through school I completed some work experience at Barker’s in the quality testing laboratory. I started as a Role Operator and Packer in the Anathoth area - making some great products like jams, curds and antipasto dips.

As an Operator, I control the filling of the product, and how much it weighs. As a packer I hand pack product onto cartons and pallets – it’s quite physical sometimes! It’s nice to be competent in two different roles as they are very different from each other. I can work independently in both roles, but I am learning new things every day.”
